Dauphin County Library System
Throughout a relationship that spanned two decades and multiple executive directors, Hammel Associates’ collaborative relationship with the Dauphin County Library System produced library facilities that served the residents of Dauphin County from downtown Harrisburg to the northern edges of the County.
For the library system, we renovated branch libraries, designed administrative offices, restored and renovated historic buildings, built multiple branch libraries based on our design for a prototype library, prepared numerous feasibility and design studies, and evaluated properties for acquisition and expansion of the library system. Our design studies were used to earn Keystone Library Grants and funding from the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to stretch County dollars as far as possible.
Our guiding principles always focused on serving the needs of the Library System and delivering services to county residents, while always focusing on financial stewardship and building long-lasting professional relationships.
