Center City Lofts
This spectacular loft-condominium home, designed and built by Hammel Associates, transformed a space in an historic center-city building that had been vacant since 1930. It reflects the best achievement in reuse of an abandoned space. The project was partially financed by a PA DCED grant and historic rehabilitation tax credits.
Through this adaptive reuse of a downtown, 1868 National Register commercial building features the dramatic transformation of the east elevation. Poor quality utility structures were demolished and replaced with a one-car garage, conditioned trash room and an elevated residential deck.
