Mt. Pleasant Carriage House

This newly restored historic carriage house now serves as a fully ADA compliant, in-law apartment, allowing the occupants to age in place. Located in Mt. Pleasant, between Columbia and Marietta, PA, this beautiful unit features a private sleeping area, living space, kitchen, laundry, bath and outdoor patio. Great care was taken during this project to avoid any modifications to the exterior. The original shutters and barn doors were retained, with modern windows installed behind them, that when closed, disappear and the exterior appearance is unaffected. Inside, the original barn timbers were retained and used as design features which contrast the Owner’s eclectic and artful design, decor and furnishings. Fun fact: historic homeowners have signed the plaster interior wall over the years. This piece of history was preserved and made a design feature.
